Happy Holidays Petersen

  • During the holiday season, the Petersen Automotive Museum sends out holiday cards to its members and donors. The challenge was to create a new design that not only represented the Museum but also had usability beyond just being a traditional greeting card.

  • I was tasked with spearheading the entire project, from conceptualizing the design to finalizing the product. The goal was to design a unique holiday card that reflected the Museum’s collection while offering a functional, memorable keepsake for members and donors.

  • I took the initiative to lead the project by first researching the Museum’s most valuable car, the 1925 Rolls-Royce Phantom I, and selecting the door design as the focal point. Drawing inspiration from the car’s intricate details, I created a Christmas ornament based on its design, ensuring it represented the elegance and timelessness of the vehicle. To complement the car’s design, I chose an Art Deco-inspired typeface that reflected the era in which the car was created. I collaborated with the production team to ensure the ornament’s usability and quality while overseeing every step of the design process, from concept sketches to the final production.

  • The project was a success, with the final design combining the Museum’s automotive heritage with a functional holiday keepsake. Members and donors appreciated the thoughtful design, and the ornament became a cherished decoration in their homes. By leading the project from start to finish, I was able to create a meaningful, memorable experience for the Museum’s supporters while reinforcing the Museum’s identity and brand.
